Scaling & Root Planing (SRP)

Post-Operative Care Instructions

Surgical Procedures

Scaling and Root Planing is a deep-cleaning procedure to remove plaque, calculus, and bacterial toxins from below the gumline. This treatment supports gum health and overall systemic well-being by reducing inflammation.

Post-Procedure Care

Follow these guidelines to support your recovery and healing

Immediate Post-Operative Care

  • Rest & Relaxation: Allow yourself to relax immediately after the procedure.
  • Rinsing: For the first 24 hours, avoid vigorous rinsing or spitting to prevent disturbing healing tissues.

Diet & Activity

  • Diet: Consume a soft, cool diet — think smoothies, soups, and pureed fruits — to ease discomfort and support healing.
  • Activity: Limit strenuous physical activity for 24–48 hours. Gentle walks and stress reduction practices (meditation, deep breathing) are encouraged.

Oral Hygiene

  • Brushing: Use a soft-bristled brush with a natural toothpaste; avoid the treated area for the first day.
  • Rinsing: After 24 hours, gently rinse with a warm saline or herbal chamomile solution.

Holistic & Natural Support

  • Herbal Teas: Sip on anti-inflammatory teas (ginger, chamomile) throughout the day.
  • Oil Pulling: Consider gentle oil pulling (using coconut oil) as an adjunct to maintain oral microbial balance.
